Professor Nabil NASSIF


Dr. NABIL NASSIF is Professor of Applied and Computational Mathematics at the American University of Beirut. In that same institution, he also directs the “Zaki Nassif Program for Music” since 2004.

He holds MS and PhD degrees in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University and a “Diplôme d'ingénieur” from l’Ecole Centrale de Paris.

He has also held several positions in national and international institutions:

From October 2000 to August 2004, Head of Statistics and Economics Departments at the Beirut Center of the “Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers de Paris (CNAM-Paris)”.

 From October 1991 to August 2000, he is Professor of Scientific Computing and Applied Mathematics at Université de Reims France Director of an inter-University Master’s program in Scientific Computing and Mathematical Modeling, in partnership with: Lebanese University and Saint-Joseph University in Beirut, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland, University of Reims and University of Rennes, France.

 From October 1996 to June 2003 Coordinator of the SARIMA Lebanon Network (grouping AUB, Lebanese University, Balamand and Saint Joseph University and sponsored by the French Government)

from January 2005 until December 2008, President and Founder of the Lebanese Society for the Mathematical Sciences (LSMS),

2010-2013 Held several visiting Research and Teaching Positions in France, the USA, Switzerland and Tunisia since 37 years and simultaneously organized and/or had several contributions in regional and international Mathematical Sciences conferences.

He directed a TOTAL OF 12 PhD’s THESES since 1990, has 1 BOOK and about 50 research papers in his area of applied and computational Mathematics.
